Suspected Al Shabaab terrorists struck Wajir County and killed five innocent Kenyans on Sunday.The heavily armed militants attacked three Villages in Wajir County on Sunday morning and killed five victims.
They shot two men dead in the initial attack and wounded another who later succumbed to gunshot injuries on his way to hospital.
The Al Shabaab then proceeded to the home of Godade Chief, Mr. Yahya Abdi, but their nefarious plot to kill him was thwarted after a neighbor sounded the alarm drawing the attention of the police who shot in the air to scare them.
However, the militants killed the wife of the former Chief, Mrs. Alasa Osman, and another before they vanished.
Wajir County Police Commandant, Samuel Mukindia, said the attack had been well planned by the militants but their motive is yet to be known.
Surprisingly, the attack came only hours after the security coordinator for North Eastern region issued a stern warning against Al Shabaab on behalf of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto.
The Al Shabaab menace in North Eastern has made the region inhabitable with non-locals fleeing to safer regions.
